Tras el fracaso comercial de su último film, un cineasta se pregunta sobre el sentido de hacer películas en un país como Ecuador. Para poner fin a su desconcierto inicia una pesquisa fílmica que lo lleva al insólito hallazgo de un cine ecuatoriano del que no tenía referencias: películas de acción y melodramas realizados por autodidactas con bajísimos presupuestos, pero que se venden como pan caliente en los mercados piratas.

After the commercial failure of his latest film, a filmmaker wonders about the sense of making films in a country like Ecuador. To put an end to his bewilderment, he begins a film investigation that leads him to the unusual discovery of an Ecuadorian cinema of which he had no references: action films and melodramas made by self-taught people with very low budgets, but that sell like hot cakes in pirate markets.
