Typescript account by Reeves, grandniece of Captain John A. and Jane Peeler Powell, re: the Powells' overland journey from Oregon to Illinois, consisting largely of quotations from Jane Powell's diary. They travelled overland by wagon train to Oregon to settle after getting married. The journey took five months. They travelled with seventy-five others and oxen. The diary extracts include: stories and anecdotes of their travelling companions, places they saw and incidents that occurred. They encountered groups of Native Americans during the trip.
