- Summary:
- The series Clásicos of the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas, UNAM, aims to rescue from its profuse historical catalogue those works of its researchers who have been landmarks for the history of art written from Mexico and that are therefore today considered essential reference by the community of this Institute. The reissue of this book, a study on Surrealism in Mexican art published in 1969, by the noted art historian, is accompanied by an introductory study by Elia Espinoza, a leading academic of the IIE, that puts the work in perspective and up to date. The study includes discussions and representations of the art of José García Ocejo, Pedro Friedeberg, Alberto Gironella, José Luis Cuevas, Juan O'Gorman, and Leonora Carrington.
