- This book is made up of a confluence of plural interests: on the one hand, the undoubted grammatological progress of recent decades in our country, particularly in Mayan studies, which requires an increasingly broader space for reflection and proposal; on the other, the interest of postmodernism in old tools of analysis, such as ekphrasis, and the aspiration for artistic production in a field that is not interrupted by disciplinary limits. In this last position there is an explicit interest in recovering, although critically, the reflection on the languages that structuralist currents postulated in the second half of the 20th century. "The papers gathered here were arranged to underline the processes of dialogue and confluence that became evident during the colloquium itself. However, this determined a division between contributions to the study of American Indian art, on the one hand, and on the other, reflections on modern and contemporary art, whose boundaries are quite porous." -translated from Page 11
