Summary:
Fifty years after her first exhibition, Museo Blanes presents the retrospective "Uróborosʺ by Claudia Anselmi (Montevideo, 1958) that covers her art throughout her career. With an exquisite drawing style, sometimes minute, other times expressed in paintings with large strokes, crisscrosses this history of "plastic art series" with different styles and languages, which still always unequivocally signal the artist's authorship in the stroke or the brushstroke. The name of the exhibition, which refers to a snake that adopts a circular position and bites its own tail, represents Claudia's comings and goings through her history, where every period shows common and permanent elements and gestures that reappear in a consubstantial fashion in her work. The delicate filigree, present from the early times of her production, is featured throughout her career. Invented characters from worlds created by Claudia, birds and eagles; women; pregnant women; trees and the forest, among others, are repeated without her having intended it and inhabit her work.
