Surrogacy arrangements are complex and can involve a range of social, emotional, medical, financial and legal issues. Within Australia, only altruistic surrogacy is allowed, however Australians are increasingly accessing compensated surrogacy arrangements overseas in places such as Thailand, India and the US.
