- Summary:
- "Las soldaderas narrates, in the voice of Cecilia who later became Adelita, the story of the first revolution in Mé, the female revolution, an event that began silently in the middle of the Porfiriato era, when women joined the labor sectors as office workers, telegraphers, journalists, newspaper editors, nurses, midwives and doctors, something that society viewed with bad eyes and considered idle, unnecessary and dangerous, since for centuries women had been educated for marriage, motherhood and the work of the family home. It was the journalists and editors who integrated and promoted the beginning of the movements in favor of women and made the first complaints to the government about gender abuses throughout the country. And it was the soldaderas who consolidated the female revolution and with their bravery demonstrated the strength of women, because without them, the Mexican Revolution would never have survived. The soldaderas rescues from oblivion the essential work of women in a crucial period of history of Mexico, putting a human face on the armed struggle.
