Summary:
"This edition presents, in four volumes, the complete unaccompanied madrigals of Luzzasco Luzzaschi, director of music at the Ferrarese court at the end of the sixteenth century. Luzzaschi was among the most important and most admired musicians of the period ... Part 2 of the unaccompanied madrigals of Luzzaschi incorporates the madrigals of his Fourth Book, a book dedicated to Carlo Gesualdo and the first book of Luzzaschi's important series of three books coming from the presses of the Ferrarese court printer in 1594-96 during the presence of Carlo Gesualdo at the court of Ferrara. The madrigals of the Fourth Book come from the twelve years between the publication of Luzzaschi's Third Book in 1582 and Gesualdo's arrival at Ferrara in early 1594 to marry a member of the Este family. The edition also includes all surviving parts of those madrigals by Luzzaschi appearing only in anthologies. These madrigals come from the years between 1583 and 1604." -- Provided by publisher.
