- "In composing his music for chorus with German text, Johann Herbeck (1831-77) was clearly inspired by his activity as the conductor of two important Viennese choral organizations: the Wiener Männergesang-Verein and the Singverein of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde. This volume offers ten of his pieces for men's chorus and mixed chorus with the accompaniment of two cornetts or oboes (one work), one to four horns (four works), piano (three works), four-part string ensemble (one work), and seven-part wind ensemble (one work)." -- Provided by publisher.
