- Daniel Colwell, a mentally ill former high school athlete, murdered a Georgia couple. During his trial Colwell threatened to harm the jurors unless they opted for the death penalty because he wanted to commit suicide and had been unsuccessful in his attempts. An appeal hearing on the case is scheduled for next month.
