- In 1997 two Marines, Major Michael Browne and Lt. Robert Straw, were killed when a Cobra helicopter crashed during a non-combat mission. The fliers' families filed a lawsuit against Bell Helicopter Textron, the aircraft's manufacturer, saying that it was unfit to fly. The Marine corps has refused to take any action against Bell and has brought its investigation to a halt.
