- Medical examiner Dr. Ronald Reeves concluded through autopsy that 78-year-old cancer patient Mary Comford was given a lethal overdose of morphine in a Volusia County, Fla. hospice. Dr. Reeves also discovered that the woman did not in fact have cancer and initiated an investigation of a total of 19 similar deaths, and he was subsequently suspended from duty.
