- Sir Andras Schiff, the legendary Hungarian-British pianist and conductor, is one of the most renowned interpreters on today's scene. Born in Budapest, he began piano lessons at the age of five, studying at the Ferenc Liszt Academy with Gyorgy Kurtag and Ferenc Rados and later in London with the period specialist George Malcolm. Mr. Schiff has received numerous awards and honours, including the Grammy Award, a Gramophone Award, The Royal Philharmonic Society's Gold Medal, the Mozarteum's Foundation Golden Medal and the Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize, being knighted by the Queen Elizabeth of England for his services to music in 2014.
