Summary:
In his tribute, Stadtfeld resorts to familiar formal models that bulked large in the Baroque era in general and in Bach's music in particular, such as the "Echo" at the end of the French Overture, the "Siciliano" in the Flute Sonata BWV 1031 or the "Ricercar" in The Musical Offering. This interplay of correlatives lends a voice to a playful spirit frequently overlooked in Bach's music.
