Summary:
Elizabeth Prince was very concerned with religious matters and this is very much reflected in her diaries. Her love for the local vicar (Reverend Swainson, of Edgehill Church) is plain to see and the fact that she can do nothing about it highlights the state of a single woman during this period. The diary as a whole is also illustrative of the harm a lack of personal and mental freedom can have on a person's life - an interesting psychological slant.
