The book, the outcome of the exhibition #RioUtópico, held at IMS Rio between December 2017 and March 2018, it is a collaborative project by photographer Rosângela Rennó. Starting from 50 locations in Rio de Janeiro whose names suggest some kind of utopia, the photographer invited the public to send images of these regions, which were included in the project. The catalogue is a guidebook that brings together photographs, maps and information on the locations chosen by the artist. She worked with young residents of the communities, who were told to photograph and research the place where they live. Known for her research on archives and the popular forms of circulation of photography, Rennó was invited to develop a project that would reflect on the landscape of Rio de Janeiro, the city where she lives and whose image is often associated with the postcards of the Center and the South Zone - a territory that corresponds to only 10% of the municipality.
