Summary:
Jazmin Berakha (Argentina 1980) lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work encompasses a wide range of media that includes traditional crafts, as well as music and film. The artist focuses on needlepoint as an entry into investigating modern images. Her research into textiles, prints and patterns is an endless source of inspiration to her. She specializes in incorporating abstract images of fabric within fabrics, and portraits of women in frozen moments of unexplained contemplation, both co-existing in a multi-patterned world. "My work explores the use of textiles in art. Embroidery is a method traditionally associated with crafts, but for me it's a possibility to work within the context of contemporary art as well. I've been always obsessed with colour-printed fabrics and patterns, and I believe this is a major reference in my work.".
