- Summary:
- Lygia Clark (1920-1988) is one of the most important names in contemporary Brazilian art, part of a generation responsible for expanding languages, establishing links with sociocultural issues and engaging all people, whether artists or not, in the transformative experience of art creating. The retrospective occupies all seven galleries of the Pina Luz with more than 150 works that establish the legacy of the artist's more than 30-year career, presenting art works such as "Projeto para um planeta" (1960) -from the series Bichos-, which gives its name to the exhibition. This exhibition shares a fundamental proposition by the artist: the participation of the public: a stage in the exhibition gallery with replicas of the "Bichos" series, one of the most famous produced by Clark from 1960 onwards, is available for the visitor to freely touch and handle. Her work "Maquete para interior nº 3" (1955), was reassembled on a large scale especially for the Pinacoteca. The exhibition also included excerpts from films, photos and documents that exhibit Clark's individual proposals and collective assemblages and, complementing the exhibition, the film "O mundo de Lygia Clark" (1973) was projected in the video room of the museum.
