- Summary:
- "Judaism or the temple, that is the question. The awakening to the temple in our time is a religious, theological and political drama. Through the activity of its seekers, the temple -- which has resided for almost two thousand years in the historical memory, in the ritual language and in the mythical space -- returns to the real present. This drama is at the center of coming to the holy place. The starting point of the author is that of a religious person who wishes to be faithful to the tradition of his ancestors. From it, he poses the challenges of the temple vision and examines through pioneering research the ways of dealing with them in contemporary religious thought; In contrast, he presents critical references in the tradition towards this vision and points to the existence in the sources of a parallel, and sometimes even preferred, religious vision: the vision of the sanctity of man and society. The return of the temple and the sacrificial work threatens the prevailing Jewish tradition to the point of jeopardizing its continued existence, while the vision of holiness is embedded in its foundations. Come to the Holy of Holies calls to place the vision of holiness as the sole religious goal, to drop the expectation of the physical realization of the temple from the space of religious aspirations, and to leave it on the historical and symbolic side of tradition - and only in it
