Summary:
Palermo once was the capital of the Mediterranean Sea thanks to the abundance of water supplied by the qanats (underground aqueducts) buried beneath the city by the Arabs, who left a lasting cultural and social heritage during their rule from AD 831 to 1072. Traces of Arab prosperity are visible in the city's architecture, layout and urban organization, as well as in the distribution and management of its most precious resource of all: water. The Mafia and corruption have erased some of this legacy. In this film, we are off in search of the remaining traces.
