- Summary:
- Every July, thousands of people flock to the middle of the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, seeking the Pampa del Tamarugal reserve for the great festivity of La Tirana. This is officially a religious feast held every July 16 in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, but in reality it is much more than that. Home to the imaginary universe of Chollywood, this space is characterized by superstition, syncretism and global culture. Characters such as Mickey Mouse, American Indians, dancing devils, and polar bears guide us through their place of pilgrimage.
