Summary:
An ethnologist and acrobat meets the indigenous Zapotec maromeros (tightrope walkers) of Santa Teresa, Veracruz, Mexico. Years later, they reunite and decide to perform the Maroma as practiced years ago before it became the "indigenous circus". The style and elements of the show vary from one region to another, but tight-rope (the Maroma) and swinging rope (or trapeze) are characteristic. Maromeros jump on the tight-rope while the brass band plays the typical music for the occasion. Discover the foundation of the dance, the building process that guides the creation of the structures and the rites of protection that come together to create the Maroma spectacle.
