Summary:

For nearly 400 years, in northeastern Colombia, one of the largest pre-Columbian cities remained unnoticed, submerged in the rainforest. Renowned for its gold, "Ciudad Perdida"-the lost city-remained a mystery until 1972, when local treasure hunters found it and began looting its gold and ceramics. Prompted by artifacts appearing in the black market, a team of Colombian archaeologists located the site and began work there in the late 1970s. Beyond the gold, the researchers shed light on the capital city of an entire people, the Tairona.
