Summary:
Starting in 1865, the cultivation of grapes in heated greenhouses shaped the character and landscape of the "Druivenstreek" (Grape Region) of Belgium, a new El Dorado, located only a stone's throw from Brussels. However, following the advent of the European internal market in 1963, this rich and prosperous region, which once boasted 3,000 grape growers and 33,000 greenhouses, was wiped out by competition from grapes grown elsewhere in that "internal market." Today, this regions harbors no more than 30 professional grape growers. The collapse of this industry there has been a slow agony. This documentary film offers the true story, without fiction, told by those who experienced that story in their daily lives.
