This sixteen-volume series on the persecution and murder of the European Jews by Nazi Germany presents a broad selection of contemporary sources recording events and themes from a variety of perspectives. The present volume, the second of three volumes focusing on the preparation, planning, and implementation of the systematic mass murder of Jews in occupied Poland, covers events in the General Government from summer 1941 to 1945. It describes the crimes of German perpetrators and their auxiliaries and also sheds light on the Polish population's reactions, on individual and collective Jewish resistance in the ghettos and camps, including the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943, and on the efforts of Jewish and non-Jewish organizations to inform the world that the Nazis were exterminating the Jews of Poland.
