Catalogue of the extensive and valuable library of the late Alderman William Booth (of Manchester), comprising about 10,000 volumes in nearly every department of literature, collected principally by the late Dr. Benjamin Whitham Booth, of Swinton : including early printed books, books privately printed, and of very limited impressions, jest books, works on witchcraft, sporting, angling, and natural history, celebrated trials, topographical books, and works of local interest, books printed in, or relating to, Scotland and the Northern counties of England (especially Newcastle-upon-Tyne), works relating to Charles I. and II., the Civil Wars, Mary Queen of Scots, and the rebellions of 1715 and 1745, fine illustrated books, Americana, Bewickiana, Cruikshankania, Shakespeariana, Facetiæ, &c. : also many scarce modern books, including the works of W. Harrison Ainsworth, Dr. Doran, William Howitt, Leigh Hunt, Mrs. Jameson, J.H. Jesse, Chas. Lamb, Miss Pardoe, Miss Strickland, Horace Walpole, &c. : the Publications of the Camden, Chetham, Hakluyt, Manx, and Percy Societies, and Abbotsford and Bannatyne Clubs, &c. : which will be sold by auction, by Capes, Dunn, and Pilcher at their gallery, 8, Clarence Street, Manchester, on Monday, Feb. 18, 1884, and five following days, commencing at eleven o'clock precisely.
