Summary:
Correspondence, 1824-1834, of George Davenport regarding Indian and fur trade matters. Subjects include the pursuit by a Sauk and Fox war party of Sioux believed to have killed a party of white cattle drivers and their herd (1824); trade with the Winnebagos on the Rock River (1826); territorial incursions by other American Fur Company trade outfits (1826); the apprehension of Fox Indians responsible for murdering Menominee and Winnebago Indians (1834); and a controversy regarding the delivery of annuity goods (1834).
