- March 19, 1761, letter to Sir William Johnson, British superintendent of the northern Indians, regarding rumors of Gen. Amherst s departure for England, the disruption of the French fur trade, the loyalty of the Caghnawageys & Caneghsadegey, the return of English prisoners held by the Nipisins and that tribe s fear of British reprisals, the revision and reprinting of a Mohawk prayer-book with added catechisms, and Claus plan to purchase a military captaincy with Johnson s financial assistance.
