Franklin Pierce, President of the United States of America, to all and singular to whom these presents shall come, greeting : whereas a treaty was made and entered into at Table Rock, near Rogue River, in the Territory of Oregon, this 10th day of September, A.D. 1853, by and between Joel Palmer, superintendent of Indian Affairs, and Samuel H. Culver, Indian agent, on the part of the United States, and Jo-aps-er-ka-har, principal chief, Sam To-qua-he-ar and Jim Ana-cha-a-rah, subordinate chiefs, and others, headmen of the bands of the Rogue River tribe of Indians, on the part of said tribe.
