Presented to Charles L. Pascal (a Great Grand Son [sic]) by his friend & well-wisher & cousin David Ott Lasue; Also, there is a hole in the Bible with a note providing explanation. This note is written on a Railway Department memorandum and explains how the Bible was burnt when John Hart, hearing of the British advance in New Jersey, knocked over a candle in his haste to hide his children, while leaving "the bedside of his dying wife."
