- Identifying the urban dynamics that have shaped the city from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day is fundamental to understanding the processes, problems, and challenges of city growth. This work analyzes the process of modernization in Arequipa through urban growth, the evolution of the urban image, the transformation of public spaces and the architectural stylistic proposal, which occurred between 1868 and 1940. The book is based on the author's doctoral thesis, carried out at Kyoto University, Japan, and on research carried out in Arequipa in recent years.
