- Summary:
- Qualitative research is well-placed to answer complex questions about the social drivers of infectious disease. This research examined the social determinants of HIV among male partners of female sex workers in Kampala, Uganda. This case study focuses on the in-depth interview component, examining issues such as research identity and power dynamics, and research ethics. This case study provides an examination of the practical considerations of conducting in-depth interviews with a marginalized population in urban Uganda, with implications for both qualitative research and research with the vulnerable.
