- Summary:
- This case study will empower students who want to conduct research on the effects of macroeconomic factors on organizational psychology factors in countries with low economic growth. Prior to this case study, no study had been conducted in Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. This case study is a reflection of how the research instrument was developed, and how the data were collected and analyzed. This case study utilized a positivist research paradigm, because the total sample size was 631. Positivism is a research paradigm that states that new knowledge is generated by testing hypothesis using statistics and the researcher is objective when analyzing the data. Statistical techniques (i.e., t-tests and analysis of variance) were conducted in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 25 to determine the effects of macroeconomic indicators on well-being factors. Consistent with the case study hypothesis, it was found that South African workers who perceived their earnings as a living wage, who experienced job security, who were exposed to better health facilities, and who were happier with their working conditions had higher levels of employee engagement, job satisfaction, and organization commitment as compared to their counterparts in Namibia and Zimbabwe.
