"Dr. Moshe Senna (1909-1972) was appointed head of the Zionist Organization in Poland at the age of 23. At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted as an officer in the Polish army to stop the invasion of Nazi Germany, was captured by the Red Army and arrived in Eretz Israel in March 1940 by way of Hatchim. Upon his arrival, he was recruited to the Defense Command , and within a year he was appointed the head of the national headquarters of the Haganah, who was a kind of defense minister of the Hebrew settlement He led the struggle to open the gates of the country to the survivors of the Holocaust. With his appointment as head of the immigration department of the Jewish Agency, in the spring of 1947 he opened the iron curtain for the departure of immigration ships from the Black Sea ports, and laid the foundation for the arms deal that decided the battle for Jerusalem. During the communist war, in December 1947, Sena resigned from the management of the agency when he chose the Soviet orientation, and in the fall of 1954, he joined the leadership of MK. The legacy of his work in the campaign for Israel's independence is undermined in historiography for political reasons. "ד"ר משה סנה (1972-1909) התמנה בהיותו בן 23 לראש ההסתדרות הציונית בפולין. בפרוץ מלחמת העולם השנייה התגייס כקצין בצבא פולין לבלימת הפלישה של גרמניה הנאצית, נִשבה בידי הצבא האדום ובדרך חתחתים הגיע במארס 1940 לארץ ישראל. עם בואו גוייס לפיקוד ההגנה, ובתוך שנה התמנה לראש המִפקדה הארצית של ההגנה, שהיה מעין שר הביטחון של היישוב העברי. סנה כונן את הפיקוד העליון של ההגנה ומינף את האסטרטגיה ההתקפית בהקמת הפלמ"ח, מיסוד הש"י, הרחבת הרכש וההתיישבות בספר. בתום מלחמת העולם הקים עם האצ"ל והלח"י את תנועת המרי העברי והנהיג את המאבק לפתיחת שערי הארץ בפני ניצולי השואה. עם מינויו לראש מחלקת ההעפלה בהנהלת הסוכנות היהודית הבקיע באביב 1947 את מסך הברזל להפלגת ספינות המעפילים מנמלי הים השחור, והניח את התשתית לִעסקת הנשק שהכריעה את המערכה על ירושלים במלחמת הקוממיות. בדצמבר 1947 פרש סנה מהנהלת הסוכנות כשבחר באוריינטציה הסובייטית, ובסתיו 1954 הצטרף להנהגת מק"י. מורשת עשייתו במערכה לעצמאות ישראל מוזערה בהיסטוריוגרפיה ממניעים פוליטיים. במחקר זה נפרסת יריעת פועלו הביטחוני של ד"ר סנה בבניין כוח ההגנה, בהנהגת תנועת המרי העברי ובמפעל ההעפלה."--Back cover.
