- Summary:
- This case study describes the intersection of tourism and archeology, using the ancient ruins of Thebes, Egypt as an example. Archaeological resources are part of the tourism sector due to tourists' interests in exploring culture and history. However, as tourists explore archaeological resources, specifically sites and ruins, the sites can be adversely affected. Therefore, this case focuses on how increasing tourism impacts the archaeological ruins of Thebes and suggests that attention needs to be paid to strategies that focus on sustaining these unique archaeological resources, as well as the communities where they are located.
