Summary:
Field epidemiology is one of the major areas of epidemiology that applies scientific methods in field conditions to generate new evidence often in urgent response to public health problems. In most cases, field epidemiologists must travel to and work in foreign conditions to collect evidence by surveys or sampling, which is later analyzed and interpreted to make decisions in health policy. However, working in foreign conditions, collecting and managing data under time, and situational constraints can pose challenges in developing the "perfect" study design. The case study discusses the practicalities and the nitty-gritty details while conducting research in a foreign environment.
