Summary:
The purpose of this case study is to address the use of the Transana platform for conducting qualitative video and audio analysis research in K-12 and higher education settings. Qualitative analysis of video and audio offers an authentic perspective of behavior that can be used by researchers in educational and other settings to gain valuable insights into the behaviors and interactions of individuals and groups. The Transana platform allows researchers to simultaneously work with large amounts of video, audio, and text data and facilitates organization, interpretation, integration, and presentation the data in a manner that is not tenable via traditional qualitative analysis approaches. This case study addresses this authors use of Transana for examining teaching practices, leadership efficacy, and student performance.
