- Summary:
- Leaf from a 13th century Ashkenazic Maḥzor, with text surviving at the later portions of the Passover Liturgy; ten lines on the recto survive from the קדושתא of the chazzan's repetition of Shaḥarit in the general German rite (the סלוק beginning חסדי יהוה אזכיר תהלות יהוה by Simeon bar Isaac bar Abun of Mainz) surviving with [ויהללוך] בהדרת קודש באראלי חשמלי קודש (this rite is missing וישתחוו בהר הקודש which appears in most manuscripts; see Mahzor Pesah ... ed. Yonah Frenkel (Jerusalem: Koren, 1993, p. 513), and continues until the conclusion and segue to Kedushah. The text then features the Aramaic piyut introducing the Torah portion (the Song of the Sea) by Me'ir ben Isaac of Worms beginning אילו פומי נימי בני נשא רשמי.
- Notes:
- Ms. fragment.
- Title supplied by cataloger.
- Script: Written in a German-Ashkenazic square script, vocalized and with some plosives; "אילו פומי" written in heavy majuscules (45 x 135 mm).
- Origin: Written in Germany during the 13th century (this custom selecting the German-Ashkenazic סלוק, different from the French-Ashkenazic custom; see Mahzor Pesah ed. Frankel).
- Layout: Written in at least 15 lines on recto and 19 on verso (surviving); the first piyut (סלוק) written in a centered tapered column (ending with pound signs above "וקרא זה אל זה ואמר", corresponding to the chazzan's opening to Kedushah); second piyut (אילו פומי נימי) written in double columns, aligned right; pricked by line on original inner margins, lines ruled in lead on the verso.
