Summary:
For plastic artist Miguel Ángel Hernández Hernández (Toluca, 2000), belonging to the generation that runs at the same time as the 21st century, the statement "believe or create" is the conceptual postulate that drives his work. Lover of nature and the environment of the volcano Xinantécatl (AKA Nevado de Toluca), the artist shows us a very personal creative universe focused exclusively on oil painting, where he integrates everything from the academic landscape painting of José María Velasco -his first influence- and the dreamlike surrealism of Rene Magritte and Salvador Dalí, to the transgression of conceptual art in the manner of proto-Surrealist Marcel Duchamp and the extreme avant-gardes of the 20th century. Thus, convinced that material reality is subject to our subjective interpretation, his unconventional themes-evocative, humorous, intriguing, and sometimes chaotic-blend distinctive elements and styles of the past with the eclectic interests of today's globalized world.
