- Dedicated to the Belcea Quartet, who premiered the first two movements in 2016.
- Originally commissioned by Wigmore Hall, this completed version was commissioned by Music Unites/International Krzysztof Penderecki Society. Premiered by the Apollon Musagète Quartett in Warsaw, 2023 March 29. Due to health issues, Penderecki was only able to complete the first two movements of this work. His long time editor Claus-Dieter Ludwig completed the third and final movement based on Penderecki's manuscript and sketches.
