- Summary:
- A report on the controversy surrounding certain aspects of the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare", namely its failure to control costs involving hospital care and profits for prescription drug companies. Interviewed are: (1) Steven Brill, author of "America's Bitter Pill", who contends that although more Americans are obtaining health insurance, "Obamacare" neglects to drive down the cost of health care and leaves taxpayers left to cover the bill. (2) Stephanie and Sean Recchi, "Obamacare" participants who signed up for Medicaid in Ohio, their home state. Sean Recchi was treated for cancer at MD Anderson in Houston and is now facing a bill for eighty-four thousand dollars because Texas does not recognize their plan. (3) Jeffrey Romoff, CEO, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, who advocates the decision of his top-ranked medical research center to have its own health insurance company.
