Biography/History:
Lithuanian rabbi in New York; born in Žagarė (near Kaunas), 1852, and studied in the Volozhin Yeshiva (ordinated by Isaac Elchanan Spektor); emigrated to the United States in 1891, was in the rabbinical circle of Rabbi Jacob Joseph, Chief Rabbi of New York (the rabbinical seals on this manuscript, "דומ"צ של הגאון מרן יעקב יוסף יאזעף הרב הכולל דפה נוי יארק", indicating that Joseph was still alive at the time of use); see Eisenstadt, Benzion, חכמי ישראל באמריקא (New York: A.H. Rosenberg, 1903), p. 92-3; his brother was scholar Zemach Rabbiner, author of Beitræge zur hebræischen Synonymik in Talmud und Midrasch (Berlin: H. Itzkowski, 1899).
Summary:
Four cuttings (from two pieces of correspondence) of stamped autographs of Reverend B.S. (Benjamin Salkind) Rabbiner, member of the Beth Din ("דומ"ץ", meaning דיין ומורה צדק) of Chief Rabbi Jacob Joseph, New York; two letter headers are with address to Tsevi Hirsch ha-Kohen Volk, rabbi of Pinsk, Belarus, and the other two are the footers, with autograph (and additional signatures of members of the Beth Din of Rabbi Jacob Joseph).
