- Summary:
- Halberstam's holograph of Igeret Bikoret, providing responses to an assortment of scholarly matters (in a polemical style; "ואשים קנצי למילין", f. 48r), responding to a letter addressed to him by Baer Goldberg (then in Paris); this manuscript is the holograph copy for print (later pen inscription, "העתק מתוך "כבוד הלבנון" שנה עשירית דף 9 עד 17", f. 1r). Topics discussed include Samuel David Luzzato's citation of Halberstam's work on Sherira Gaon regarding dating the writing of the Mishnah (f. 2r), the related debate between Zacharias Fränkel and Fürchtegott Lebrecht (f. 3r-4r), and other assorted notes (many relating to Sherira Gaon). Written in pencil in a 19th century square script on commercial notepad paper (one puncture at top from a brass thumbtack, now removed); citations include manuscripts in Halberstam's own collection; Halberstam's autograph abbreviated ("ש'ז'ח'ה'ן'", f. 48r), and a postscript.
