Summary:

Eduardo de Almeida consolidated his name in the panorama of Brazilian architecture in a trajectory that spanned at least sixty years and took place between the offices of which he was part and the classrooms of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP).In this way, his projects are the result of the architect and professor's dialogue with colleagues and students, as well as academic research, technological innovations and the work of contemporaries such as Vilanova Artigas and Paulo Mendes da Rocha. Eduardo de Almeida's position in Brazilian architecture is reinforced by his commitment to training generations of architects, as well as the diversity of languages, techniques, materials, programs, scales and places of his work. The book details this journey which includes works such as the Gemini building, the family residences Tassinari, Sigrist and Define, headquarters of companies in the service and industrial sectors and, more recently, the Biblioteca Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin and the Institute of Brazilian Studies (IEB) and presents the São Paulo architect's projects in chronological order, through text descriptions, statements by Eduardo de Almeida, drawings and photographs. The selection of material is detailed by Alessandra Figueiredo and dates from Cesar Shundi Iwamizu's doctorate, whose research and text serve as the basis for the essay that underpins the publication. The presentation is Helena Ayoub Silva, who, like Iwamizu, worked with Eduardo de Almeida. The book is completed by an interview with the architect, in which Eduardo talks about his years as a student, his career as a teacher and the projects he worked on. "The third publication to focus exclusively on the work of Eduardo de Almeida, the book is the outcome of the dedicated research of César Shundi Iwamizu, which resulted in his doctoral thesis "Eduardo de Almeida: reflexões sobre estratégias de projeto e ensino" [Eduardo de Almeida: Reflections on Design and Teaching], presented in 2015, and enabled the organization of the digital collection Arquivo Eduardo de Almeida" --Page 252.
