- Summary:
- Volume 3 is the third edition of LIVROREVISTA by Raul Mourão. Organized into chapters that present the main records of the artist's exhibition journey between 2018 and 2022, the publication features critical texts that establish an overview of his production in dialogue with aesthetic, social and political issues. Continuing with previous editions, Volume 3 brings together, in a multifaceted way, records of sculptures, paintings, drawings, photos and video frames that made up the main exhibitions integrated by the artist in the last five years. The images accompany texts signed by Noemi Jaffe, Bernardo Oliveira, Eucanaã Ferraz, Guilherme Wisnik, Isabel Sanson Portela, Lilia Moritz Schwartz, Fernanda Lopes and Gustavo Prado. This edition, which features Fred Coelho, Camila Bechelany, João Bandeira and Felipe Scovino among its collaborators, also features an interview by Lenora de Barros about her training and work as a visual artist and poet, as well as an essay by Laura Lima and Tania Rivera about the work Literal Balletʺ. Volume 3 is an artist's book that covers the work of Raul Mourão through different supports, explaining his creation process, his partnerships and reflections and presenting the possibilities that emerge from the overlapping between the art object and life. As the critic and curator Isabela Sanson Portela situates: Traveling through the paths of Raul Mourão's work is to follow the movement, from creation to birth, from conception to the first cry in the open. The initial scratches of the drawing on paper already announced its grandeur. And, fighting against so many everyday imbalances, with the strength of steel and fire, it goes around dodging fears and signaling with the possibilities that art allows.ʺ.
