- Summary:
- An interview / profile of Patrick Kennedy, former Democratic Representative for Rhode Island and the youngest son of deceased Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy and Joan Kennedy. Patrick discusses his memoir, "A Common Struggle", co-authored with Stephen Fried, in which he describes not only his own alcoholism struggles, but that of his parents too. Mental illness, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder have also been prevalent in Patrick's life. Patrick's purpose for revealing these Kennedy family secrets is to help break the silence about mental illness and addiction, and he continues to champion this cause through the behavioral health policy organization he has founded, The Kennedy Forum. (Includes an excerpt of Walter Cronkite and Ted Kennedy)
