Biography/History:

Orientalist and theologian, born in Strauch (on the border of German states of Saxony and Brandenburg); in Marburg, served as lecturer at Seminarium Philippinum (1836), and lectured at the University of Marburg until 1860; his doctoral dissertation printed as De Sermonis Chaldaici Proprietate (Marburgi Cattorum, 1838); his works on Old Norse include Altnordisches Lesebuch : aus der skandinavischen Poesie und Prosa bis zum XIV. Jahrhundert [...] (Leipzig: F. A. Brockhaus, 1843) and on Hebrew, Abhandlungen zur hebräischen Grammatik (Leipzig: Freidrich Christian Vogel, 1846).

Summary:

Annotations and additions with an interleaved copy of Franz Dietrich's doctoral dissertation (De Sermonis Chaldaici Proprietate (Marburgi Cattorum, 1838)), including later citations (such as f. 1v); additional lexicography from Syriac to Latin (f. 28v) and Aramaic (f. 29r); some final citations on the rear paste-down (f. 31r); item appears unfinished. On the title page (interleaved between f. 1 and 2), Dietrich corrected the date of conferral of his doctorate, omitted in the print ("et die XIV Novembris A. MDCCCXXXVIII").
