- Summary:
- Miss Berry advises the recipient on an itinerary for a tour on the continent from Lyons to Turin, with distances and times for travel. Mary Berry and her sister Agnes travelled to the continent at least five times between 1783 and 1823 and had made in 1816 a trip from Lyons to Turin along a route similar to that described in this letter. Although this letter is undated, it was probably written not long after that journey, since it recounts the post stages in great detail. The letter also mentions Algernon Percy, (later) 1st Earl of Beverley. The recipient is addressed as Lady Lovaine, the title she held until her husband, George Percy, succeeded to the title of 5th Duke of Northumberland.
