- The Voyage of the Lady Catherine Whetenall from Brussells into Italy in the holy yeare with the cheif accidents that hath happened therin written in Padua a little before her ladyship fell sick by other of her trayne'; 1650. Written at her request by Richard Lassels al. Lescells (d. 1668), author of The Voyage of Italy (printed 1670). Autograph. The dedication letter is addressed to the lady's husband 'Thomas Whetenall, Esqre. The account begins with the marriage on 5 Sept. 1649 of Lady Catherine Talbot, 2nd daughter of John, 10th Earl of Shrewsbury, to Thomas Whetenall in the Church of the English Nuns at Louvain and ends with a description of her death and funeral at Padua, 1650. In the description of Rome (ff. 21-35) is an account of 'The Vatican Library' and of 'The Cheife Bookes'. A short account of Richard Lassels by Birch is on f. 2, and a note by M. Maty is on f. lb.
