Summary:
In Frida Kahlo's work, the relations between artistic creation and life; particularly her body, is an inexhaustible source for her creative processes. The author studies the artistic and existing dialogues between artists of different generations, with different social and cultural contexts but who share sensitivities and problems reiterated over time by exploring the "womb" (matrizal) related genealogy of Frida Kahlo in the creative processes of the artists Arturo Estrada, Nahum B. Zenil and the author himself from the performativity of the body and their creative processes. The author "seeks to question the vision of the involvement of the political in art creation as purely masculine, while the personal in art is a vocation intended only for women." (HKB Translation) --Page 17. Arturo Estrada Hernández (Mexico, 1925) is a painter and muralist, and one of a group of Frida Kahlo's students called "Los Fridos". Nahum B. Zenil (Veracruz 1947) is an artist who often uses his own self-portrait as the principal model for a cultural critical interpretation of Mexico, especially concerning homosexuality and mestization. Author Odailso Berté has a Postdoctoral Fellow in Art from Iberoamerican University in Mexico City; a Doctorate in Art and Visual Culture (UFG - 2014); a Master of Dance (UFBA - 2011); a Specialist in Dance (UNESPAR/FAP - 2009); and a Bachelor of Philosophy (UPF - 2002)
